This is all new to me, all I know is what I've read here
and on the main digest. But that was enough for me
to recognize the likely symptoms when our young
Champ started whimpering when he'd need to pee.
An xray revealed a single stone about 1 cm. Not
wanting to put him through surgery, especially with
the likelihood another one would follow, we tried
a round of Baytril. After being on that for close to
six weeks, another xray showed that the stone
now is much smoother, but no smaller. We have
discontinued the Baytril for now, and have been
advised that use of Shilintong wouldn't be likely
to help in his case, being a male. I have tried
the barley water in the past, and given him a
bit of cranberry juice (well, cranapple).
What is really likely to help a boy like him? His
symptoms are much better now, but the xray
shows the stone is still present. Would a more
rigid routine of the cranberry juice and maybe
barley water help? Should we try the Shilintong?
Would Leah's famous 'Power Hour' help him
any? (giving him lots of extra water) He is
  already resisting syringe feedings.
Is it possible to tell what kind of stone it is from
a urine sample? Someone had suggested that
sometimes a stone can be dissolved with a medication
given to cats for stones, but our vet said that cats have
  different kinds of stones. -zatso?
