Hi all,

As the years go by and I have had more guinea pigs I see some that have
stones and some that never do. They are all housed and fed the same. This
would leave me to believe there is some genetic issue involved.

I have had one piggie that developed a stone late in life, around 5 years
old. One of her daughters had constant UTIs in her last two years of life
and still lived to be almost 5. Two of her daughters were stone free and I
don't know about the fourth as she was adopted and I lost track of her.

Right now my two adopted girls are stone free. Juliet may have diabetes as
she is 3 pounds and drinks a lot of water, and Honey has one usable lung and
fluid around her heart. She is such a trooper. She has developed a passion
for yogurt and takes her lasix as long as it is mixed with flavored yogurt.
My house is turning out to be a haven for special needs piggies :)

My heart goes out to all of you battling stones.

Dee
