Also on that page is a diet that one of the list members has formulated
to help
keep urinary sludge minimized.
Acidification of the urine may present its own problems: in the
Richardson book
"Diseases of Domestic Guinea Pigs", the author mentions that attempting a
significant alteration in the pH is not healthy. In addition, there is some
speculation that too much acid in the urine could lead to the formation of
calcium oxalate stones. Oxalic acid (as found in some vegetables) is
particularly suspect.
A varied and balanced diet is always a good idea - as well as plenty of fluids
and exercise.
