To everyone that was so kind and concerned about Rugi I wanted to give you an update. First, thank you very much for all of the good advice and/or concern and encouragement.
This has been an amazing roller coaster for Rugi (and me)! Because Rugi's vet didn't have time for the dear, I called a different vet who was very willing to see what she could do for Rugi. She took x-rays and lo and behold - no kidney stone! I cannot say whether there actually ever was one there since my "previous" vet diagnosed the stone by ultrasound rather than x-ray. However, the x-rays showed no stone, no blockage anywhere, but there was a blob of gunk in her bladder but it wasn't a stone.
Anyway, what my "new" vet did find was bloat! Poor Rugi wasn't able to breathe and was in tremendous pain due to the bloat pushing on every little organ in her body. She gave Rugi a SubQ and injection of Reglan and sent us home with a prescription for Reglan, infant simethicone drops (mylicon), and Metacam. By Thursday night, I was tentatively hopeful.
Friday morning -- BAM! Panic again! Rugi peed red blood. I am awaiting the results of a culture but she has definitely improved over the weekend and since a few episodes of peeing blood on Friday, her urine has been clear since. I don't know, but maybe she passed that "blob" and is on the road to recovery (I pray this miracle continues for dear Rugi).
So anyway, I know many of you were concerned and shared much advice with me. Therefore, I wanted to quickly bring you up to date. I remain hopeful that my sweet Rugi has endured enough and is on the road to recovery. I'll keep you posted once I hear about the culture results.
Thank you again to everyone who helped save her life (literally)!
JoAnn, "Regal" Rugi, and "Spitfire" Sierra
