Oh, JoAnn - I have been meaning to write to you to thank you for your
wonderful note that you sent in response to my inquiries about the pumpkin,
etc. Things are just so chaotic here that I put it off. Now, today, I see
that your sweet Rugi has taken a turn for the worse. I couldn't help but
cry as I read your message. These dear little ones can become so very ill
and it is a terrible, helpless, frantic feeling.

I am clueless as to what could be going on with Rugi. I wish I had a
helpful suggestion to make. Two things that you mentioned brought this to
mind: Sometimes Mollie's sides heave with her respirations when she is in a
lot of pain. I wonder if Rugi is in severe pain and it is causing her to
heave or hyperventillate? Does she have any pain medication? Also, if you
are now seeing bloody urine and it has a strong smell, could it be that the
stone has moved into her urethra and is causing a blockage? Is she cryihng
when she pees? What amount is she peeing each time? Is it small amounts
often - or small amounts and not often? Either way, that could indicate
that she is not able to pass her urine around the stone. If this is the
case, she can become toxic very quickly due to the blockage which will cause
buildup of concentrated urine and the inability to expell it.

As for your vet being "too busy" to see Rugi. . . well. . . it is my
understanding that if the vet has any humanity at all, she is OBLIGATED to
see an animal that is in an emergency situation - especially if it is one of
her own patients! Is it possible for you to just call and tell them that
this is an emergency and you are on your way in for Rugi to be seen?? Her
attitude and advice to you for saline and vaporizors is ridiculous. Rugi
needs to be seen IMMEDIATELY and an xray needs to be done to see if the
stone is lodged in her urethra.

JoAnn, I just can't tell you how sorry I am that this is happening to Rugi
and to you. You both will be in my heart and thoughts every second. Please
know that you have many, many people (and piggies) sending both of you
strength, support, and healing. All decisions at a time like this are
difficult and gut-wrenching. You love Rugi dearly. You want what is best
for her. You WILL make the right decisions for her because they will be
based in love and compassion. Trust yourself.

Candy; Topper and Mollie
