[Stones] change urine smell

We continue to give Star her regimen of bactrim, metacam, and oxbow
inensive care. She has gained some weight, going from 795 grams to 855
grams in about 5 days. Her urine is no longer visibly bloody, but she
still squeals when she pees (and I think also when she poos, but my wife
thinks not). The stool is still smaller than usual and quite moist.
Over the last few days the urine has developed a very strong amonia
smell, and she seems to be always soaked with urine underneath, despite
washing her down from time to time. I don't think she is drinking an
enormous amount ... only normal or perhaps a bit less than normal.
Perhaps the flow of the urine is spraying more widely rather than being
more volume... can't tell.

Is there some significance to the change in the smell of the urine
(REALLY strong), and the fact that she dampens her fur under her belly
on on rear legs more than normal? Does it signify something we should
be concerned about ?

I hope to be able to talk to our vet this evening, but also wanted to
ask the members of this list their experience. She's been on the
bactrim for 10 or 11 days, so I expect the vet to tell us to stop the
antibiotic. She is gaining weight, but more likely from the oxbow
critical care than from a normal diet of hay (she only nibbles a little
of it on occasions). She also seems to have a very strong urge to eat
paper .... paper towels , the white care-fresh ..... had to remove
them from her cage and carrier.

Thanks for any tips.

  Joel
