Greetings, JoAnn -

Thank you for the FANTASTIC information that you sent to Joel in response to
his request. I enjoyed and appreciated every word of it. I am so sorry,
though, to hear of the problems that poor little Rugi is having. Ah, these
stone piggies. . . I worry so for them. They have the hearts of warriors,
though - they just keep fighting as long as they can and they keep hanging
tough. I am very proud of them - very brave to be such wee beasties.

I was facinated by your suggestions concerning the pumpkin, baby food, and
water mixture and would like to get further information on that. Where do
you find 100% pure pumpkin (other than raw ones in the fall)?? I would love
to have this option when administering "icky" things (such as the
Shilintong) to Mollie and Topper. Right now, I am giving Mollie's
Shilintong and Topper's Vitamin C in about 4cc's of cranberry juice. I use
L&A's Cranberry Delight 100% Juice - nothing but filtered water and apple
and cranberry concentrate - no sugar, no preservatives, no coloring - just
fruit and water. They love it, but I would like to have some other
healthful options.

We do have Odwalla juices and other products here, but a few years ago a
good many folks got very ill out here due to the juice not being processed.
Turned out that the fruit that was used in that batch had been contaminated
by animal droppings as it lay in the orchard. So, I have stayed away from
it. Maybe I should check it out again - they may have changed their
processing approach.

I would be very interested to hear further details on the pumpkin, etc., and
- again - thank you for the great information in your post. I am also going
to check out the site you listed for the probiotics.

I will be keeping you and Rugi in my heart and thoughts. Please give her a
soft kiss on her furry little head for me.

BeneBac (be sure to get the kind that is not preserved with BHT). I am
presently using iFlora (I got it a KVVetSupply.com).

If getting Star to take the Bactrim is a struggle, one trick that I came
up with was to mix with a little bit of 100% pure pumpkin, a dash of
garden vegetable baby food, and some Dasani water so it's not a thick
paste. About one hour later give her the probiotic. Rather than the
pumpkin, if it is available use Odwalla Superfoods. Because that
beverage is not available where I live the alternative recommendation
given to me was to use pumpkin because it is natural, hasn't been
cooked, and contains fiber. I also now use this mixture to administer
the Shilintong -- then she'll willing take. I let the Shilintong tab
dissolve in about 3 cc water and give half twice daily.
I sympathize with the turmoil that you are going through and the
discomfort of your dear Star. I wish that there was more that I could
do or say. Hopefully, someone else can respond with additional
information. My thoughts go to you and Star.
